Eros is going to have two very contrasting half year performances. The first half results announced this month were impacted by the industrial dispute with multiplexes, which caused Eros to withhold releases of new films. The dispute effectively took three months of trading out from the theatrical division and only four films were launched in the half compared to H109 when 14 were launched. A slump in Indian advertising revenues and the delays in the release schedule also impacted on TV syndication deals and on DVD sales. Overall, therefore, revenues were down 21% to US$56.5m and adjusted pretax profit fell by 30% to US$20.8(eps 16.5 cents).
