Hitachi Capital (UK) started trading on the Full List in 1997 when the business was a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Capital Corporation (HCC), which is quoted in Japan and is itself a subsidiary of the large electronics group Hitachi. HCC demerged the business, which was originally set up to provide installment credit and leases for Hitachi Group products in order to enable it to grow under its own steam but connected company lending now accounts for around only 1% of its sales.
