Kewill has acquired Dutch supply chain management software vendor Interchain, for an initial £6.8m in cash. It leaves Kewill with around £12m cash in the bank. Interchain expands geographical coverage of the shipping management division into Continental Europe, adding offices in Holland, Germany, Belgium and the UK. Its solution, known as Chainware, offers supply chain management for large scale, multi-national logistics firms including Fedex, TNT, UPS and DHL. In the year to 31 December 2004, Interchain made a pretax profit of £0.6m on sales of £8m. The acquisition is eps enhancing from day one before any obvious cross-selling opportunities.
