Support services business Carter & Carter (CART; 418p) has benefited from the huge trend in outsourcing as most public and private sector groups become more efficient by handing over large chunks of their non-core work to third party operators. The group was established in 1992 by current chief executive Philip Carter to provide a range of outsourced solutions to motor manufacturers.      The early focus was on in-field support to dealerships, with the first contract being for GM, part of Vauxhall, for which it developed an accident repair call-handling service where it directed repairs from the public to the manufacturer’s service network.
