Judges has unveiled its 16th acquisition. Through its subsidiary, Bordeaux (75.5% owned), it has bought Oxford Cryosystems, which makes cryogenic cooling systems used for X-Ray crystallography. As usual, this is a solid and profitable company serving a specialised niche and Judges is paying cash. In the year to 30 November it had sales of £4.3m and made an adjusted pretax profit of £0.9m. Judges is paying £4.5m in cash on a cash free debt free basis with a deferred payment based on future profits of up to £1.6m.
