Judges has made its first foray into the life sciences space with the purchase of Sussex-based Scientifica, a specialist maker of electrophysiology equipment (used generally for neuroscience). The consideration is £12m cash plus a £1m earn out. Scientifica's range comprises micromanipulators, optical microscopes and associated mounting solutions, which are sold to academic institutions, research centres and pharmaceutical companies. The company also distributes complementary products including imaging systems, multi-electrode arrays, amplifiers, perfusion equipment and light sources.
