Two or three years ago it would have been inconceivable that Tarsus would make a profit in its seasonally weaker first half (most of its bigger events take place in H2) but the H1 to 30 June has seen the company book a Â£600,000 pretax profit against expectations for the full year of Â£16.2m. Overall H1 sales are up 14% to Â£19.2m. Like-for-like revenues are up 7% split roughly equally between new space and price increases. Even better, H2 promises to be a bumper one (forward bookings are 87% of expected sales for the year already) with two significant biennial events; LabelExpo Europe and Dubai Airshow, which together will account for one third of the business.
