Assetco has announced a five year contract worth Â£12m with the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA) for the provision of an emergency fire crew capability service to the London Fire Brigade (LFB). The contract is the first of its kind in the UK and relates to the regulatory requirement of the UK Fire and Rescue Authorities to provide a contingency firefighting service without reliance on the armed forces. Assetco will provide up to 700 trained contingency staff should the main force not be available in the event of exceptional demand such as the 2012 Olympics, terrorism, flu pandemic and strikes.
