The Dow Jones index, which has been setting new highs since October, has crossed 14,000 for the first time, having moved through 13,000 just 57 trading days before. That makes the rise even faster than the dot com boom when the index went from 12,000 to 13,000 in 129 days. But alas, the UK market seems to have detached itself from the US indices and summer apathy has set in and the indices are barely changed. In terms of our portfolio constituents, there were a number of notable ones including Revenue Assurance (bid approach), Spice and Hargreaves, each of which hit all time highs helping the portfolio to a modest 2% rise.
