Last month included a fairly comprehensive review of Spice ahead of results, so it’s particularly pleasing to see the shares break 300p since, a new high. For the year to 30 April, Spice reported a 59% increase in underlying pretax profit to £9m with a 33% lift in earnings per share to 16.1p. Spice now presents its results in two divisions: utility services and commercial services. Within its utility services, both the historic strong-arms of water and electricity performed well, with the fastest organic growth coming from the water side where operating profit grew 43% to £4.2m, almost all organic, on sales of £58.8m.
