A disappointing trading statement from Inspace, which provides maintenance to the social housing sector, ahead of H1 results on 26 September. Mainly due to a failure to secure any new contracts so far this year and an underspend by Barnsley council, Inspace said that although H1 results will be in line with expectations at £3.6m pretax, full year profits will fall short of expectations. The statement was accompanied by news that Inspace is to acquire social housing builder Widacre, which owns Willmott Dixon Housing (WDH) and Widacre Homes, from its former parent Willmott Dixon. Widacre is expected to make an operating profit of £6m on £126m sales in 2006 and Inspace is paying £64.5m of which £44. ...
