Alkane Energy (ALK;30p) is on a roll. Last month when writing about Agcert (AGC;238p), we mentioned that the methane produced by livestock waste management was one of the biggest contributors to global warming and climate change. As we are learning, another source of methane emissions is from coal mining activity (in the UK, emissions of this kind amount to 1.2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide). One company which sets out to solve this is Alkane. Alkane, which was established in 1994 and joined AIM back in 2002, has two main activities. The first is its own energy projects in the UK and in Germany where it captures the methane from abandoned coal mines and turns it into electricity.
