The AGM statement reiterated the Department of Health spending plans to modernise the provision of hospital decontamination. As we said in Sharewatch last month, there is likely to be a phased transfer to the private sector. Synergy notes 475 hospitals are currently serviced by 276 sterilisation units, each costing Â£0.75m per annum. Tendering for the contracts will proceed on a region by region basis with tenders for nine hospitals in Leeds already being reviewed whilst tendering for a second cluster of 25 hospitals begins in October.
