The fact that he was a recent joiner made chief executive William Rollason’s decision easier when it came to eliminating  the weakest part of the group’s operations.  Together with results for the year to 30 April, he therefore announced the sale of its display marketing division DMG to Premier Direct (230p) for up to £4.1m. The debt-laden Premier is to pay £4.1m (£1m cash upfront, £2.8m in five stage payments until April 2005 plus 190,763 new shares). DMG made an operating loss of £3.8m  in the year but the headline reading was made worse by a stock write down of £7.0m and a whopping £33.4m non-cash provision for impairment of goodwill.
