Challenger banks have all been in a mini bull market. In the case of Shawbrook, the shares soared over 300p after the company received a possible 333p cash offer (330p cash plus up to a 3p final dividend) from Pollen Street, which holds 38.9% of the equity.A few days later Shawbrook also reported its 2016 results with a 29% jump in pretax profit to £103.4m and eps of 29.8p. As we said last July, Shawbrook is different from other lenders in that it is well diversified and isn’t just about mortgages. These results show growth across three operating divisions.
