Fusionex’s accelerated spending on marketing, geographical expansion and product development (capitalised spend a whopping 28% of sales and expensed over five years) is clipping profitability and continues to cast a tall shadow. Whilst sales have been growing (up by 23% to MYR94.6m in 2016) they have lagged the rise in administration and other expenses, which doubled from MYR35.3m to MYR72.4m last year. Adjusted pretax profit was MYR4.6m.The year saw 79 client wins for its Big Data product, GIANT, to take the total to 115 (49 enterprise; 66 SME).
