As I write, the commodities sector is up 26 per cent this year, its biggest quarterly gain since September 2009, and this marks a revival after three years of losses. 2015 was the worst year and saw commodities down by around 40% from the high in May to the low in January and is why mining majors such as BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Glencore and Anglo American all had to make tough decisions to slash capital expenditure, dividends and sell assets.  Brady (BRY; 51p), a supplier of risk management software for metal trading, had its own annus horribillis in 2015.
