The IPO market has been raging. A few new issues have been coming on at such eye-watering multiples that they are going to spoil things for the rest of them. Take Boohoo.com, which has proclaimed itself to be the next ASOS and raised £300m at 50p a share to value the retailer supplying cheap clothing for under 25s at £560m. It didnâ't stop the shares opening at 75p on day one but they have since retraced. The business is growing fast but even so a £3.9m profit last year suggests it will take years to grow into its valuation. AO.com, which sells fridges, freezers and washing machines online, was valued at £1.2bn, four times the £300m valuation mooted in September.
