Judges Scientific - Shares rocket by £2

The shares exploded upwards, up over Â£2, after Judges announced its ninth acquisition and the largest in both sales and profits. It is paying Â£7.7m for Global Digital Systems, a 30-year old business supplying equipment for testing soil and rock samples. GDSâ€™ products are sold worldwide (80% exported) to academic institutions and contractors providing testing services for civil engineering projects. Having grown 23% for the last five years, last yearâ€™s sales were Â£4.9m and it made an operating profit of Â£1.3m. Judges is paying a 6x exit multiple and the deal is eps enhancing from day one.
