The shares exploded upwards, up over £2, after Judges announced its ninth acquisition and the largest in both sales and profits. It is paying £7.7m for Global Digital Systems, a 30-year old business supplying equipment for testing soil and rock samples. GDS’ products are sold worldwide (80%  exported) to academic institutions and contractors providing testing services for civil engineering projects. Having grown 23% for the last five years, last year’s sales were £4.9m and it made an operating profit of £1.3m.
