Scott Wilson has a simple plan to become a top five engineering consultancy in the next five years, behind its closest quoted rival, WSP (WSH;602p). Since it joined the Full List in March ‘06, it has already grown from its position as the 10th largest consultant to the 8th, with expected sales of £308m in the year to 30 April but the company would need to grow some to reach its target. And it’s a moving target too; WSP has just reported its sales are up a third on last year’s to £578m and directly below it comes Mouchel (MCHL; 430p), which completed a fairly large acquisition recently and has expected sales of almost £530m.
