Clapham House has issued a trading update reporting that results for the year to 30 March will be in line with recently reduced expectations and comfortably ahead of last year. 21 UK openings for its flagship brand, Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK), took place during the year (as well as two franchised units overseas) and the brand continues to deliver good sales performance and excellent returns on capital invested. The new units take the total to 43 GBKs and the group continues to see potential for at least 150 across the UK. Clearly Clapham's other brands (Bombay Bicycle Club, Real Greek and Tootsies) remain an unnecessary distraction - and although not confirmed by the company - we believe have been put up for sale.
