Following this month's agreed bid from venture capitalists for Computer Software Group (CSW; 150p), a software company supplying business critical systems, we decided to look for other similarly attractive businesses with large customer bases producing recurring and highly visible revenue streams. One fitting the bill very nicely is SSP, which over the past four years, since its management bought the business back from a conglomerate, has doubled its sales and grown profit three-fold from its mainstay of supplying systems for the general insurance industry. The revenue model is recurring in nature with 75% of annual sales recurring the following year as SSP generally issues licences with minimum terms of 3-5 years. ...
