Sales in the six months to 31 December were up 7% to £7.8m but with a higher proportion arising from sales of refuse bins, pretax profit fell from £425,000 to £335,000. The decline in profit compared to earlier expectations was almost entirely due to a shortfall in the Binweigh division which had sales of £5m (64% of the total). First, the division has moved to supplying councils on a one stop shop basis where PM supplies not only the load cell technology for dynamic weighing of a refuse bin, but also frequency transponders or electronic tags for identifying households as well as the bins themselves.
